For the past week or so in my spare time which is lacking I have been going car shopping. See here is the thing I have a 2001 cougar and I love it!! I always said I would keep it til I popped out kids which I didn't plan on for a long while. There is nothing wrong with the car so why not keep it? Well my parents mentioned to me that I might want to look into what it was worth and what I still owed on it. Un fourtunatly they were right. At a max it is worth $5,000 without the $1,500 worth of hail damage it indured earlier this year(I hate missouri weather by the way) and I owe $6,500 on the car. So I started shopping I have driven so many cars in the last week it is not even funny and when I say drove I don't just mean test drive I mean took them home, to school, wherever! So on Friday afternoon I went to Thoughbred (or however you spell it) Ford. I took a car home for the night and really liked it! Just what I wanted it was newer(05), had a 6 year warrenty, better on gas, and well perfect! On my way back to the dealer I tried not to get too excited realizing that it was a car dealer and they were either going to charge way too much for the car or jip me on my trade. When I got there it was too good to be true, he told me he would sell me the car for $10,900 which was within hundreds of dollars of what I was willing to pay for the car and he offered me $7,000 dollars for my cougar!!! Just an FYI if you are a student and have student loans good luck getting even a decient interest rate! He said that all the banks they finace through beacuse of all the student loans I have and the fact that I only pull in about $250 a week the lowest interest rate I could get was 15%!!!! Holy shit!!! I would be upside down faster in that car then my head could spin! If that wasn't enough of a blow he said he tried going though my bank where my current auto loan is at 7.5% and they turned me down!!!! Needless to say I wasn't happy. Think about it like this the government offers student loans so that pretty much anyone can better themselves with a college education but then once you have them your credit gets kinda screwed. I mean it isn't like the banks don't know that money will get paid back weather I want it to or not. If I don't voulentarily pay it back they will garnish my wages til they get their money. What ever happened to a little help for the guy on the bottom of the totum poll!
